home hospitality rates contacts A scenic drive 5 kms from the port town of Lipari (including the last 150 meters of mule track) leads to the retreat, located on the shoulder of Monte Giardina, above the cliffs of Vallemuria, the closest beach. Alternatively, a steep and highly panoramic path reduces the journey to 2 kms.
The beach is a leisurely 1,5 kms walk away.
How to reach us
By car: Exit the port town of Lipari in direction Pianoconte.
At approximately 3kms descend left at signpost Monte-Pianogreca; follow the road down into the valley (passing the path to the beach of Vallemuria), and up to the first houses of the contrada.
At the side of the first house on the left, turn on the right ascending sharp onto a narrower road for a further 1km.
Continue right for a further 150 mt. onto a track leading to the edge of the crater of Monte Giardina to arrive at La Dolce Vita.
By foot:
Exit Lipari center on the path of Vallone Ponte, in the area Diana. A long, graduated path rises to the square of St. Bartolo al Monte (gradually taking in the sights of Lipari below).
Continue along the cemented road to the edge of the crater of Monte Giardina, and follow on to the track right to arrive at the retreat.

By Sea:
From Milazzo, all-year daily boat services several times a day (Siremar, Ustica Lines, NGI).
From Reggio Calabria and Messina, hydrofoil (Ustica Lines); once per day during Winter, several times during Summer.
From Palermo, hydrofoil service (Ustica Lines) twice per day during Summer.
From Naples, ferry service (Siremar) twice per week during Winter and Summer - hydrofoil service from June 1 – Sept 30 (Ustica Lines-SNAV-Alilauro) several times per day.
By air:
Reggio Calabria, the closest airport with a direct hydrofoil service (Metromare dello Stretto + Ustica Lines) or link to Messina for bus and train services to Milazzo.
Catania, 150 kms from Milazzo. Daily coach service from April - October, train and bus via Messina or car rental.
Palermo, 220 kms from Milazzo. Direct bus service to port, then hydrofoil (Ustica lines). Trains, buses or car rental to Milazzo.
By car:
From Naples and Salerno via Messina or Milazzo by ferry. There is a vehicle restriction during Summer, requiring a minimum 7 nights booked stay to disembark.
Note :Once on Lipari, cars, scooters and bicycles can be hired on the island.
